Vectron
A free tool that turns an ordinary image into a proper SVG, entirely in your browser. Eight sensible presets, nine controls that are actually named after what they do, and a queue for when you have forty logos rather than one. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Take the flat image a client sent as a 'logo' and hand back editable vector shapes a few seconds later, for nothing, without any of it touching a server.
The Challenge
Most image-to-SVG tools get at least one thing wrong. Some upload your files to a server. Some label their controls things like 'splice threshold' and expect you to know what that means. Some make you pay before you can do more than one file or export at a decent size. What was missing was a fast, private one that explains itself and does not fall over when you give it a folder.
The Solution
The tracer is VTracer compiled to WebAssembly, running in a Web Worker so the interface stays responsive. Dragging a slider updates the picture at around 60fps but only actually re-traces once you pause, and cancels the previous trace if you carry on fiddling. Every control has a plain label, a sentence explaining it, the raw VTracer flag for anyone who wants it, and three small Low/Mid/High examples you can click to apply.
The compare viewer has Split, A/B, Side-by-side and Fade, all over one fixed frame so nothing jumps about. You can click a colour in the palette to fold it into its nearest neighbour, there are keyboard shortcuts for the eight presets, undo for every setting, and a batch queue with 'apply to all' and a zipped 'export all'. It is a static Nuxt 4 site on Cloudflare, which keeps the running costs close to nothing.
