Twenty years of
building
A senior frontend developer from Germany, now settled in Brisbane. I take complicated ideas and turn them into things people can actually use.

Where I've worked
Groundplan
Senior UI/UX Developer2022 - 2025Helped move an enterprise platform for measuring and estimating on PDF floor plans off Meteor.js and onto Vue 3, and from Bootstrap 3 to 5. Worked directly with the founders, turning the workflows people used every day into something less annoying to use.
Bridj
Frontend Lead2020 - 2022Built the operations portal for a mobility-as-a-service platform from scratch. Concept to production in six months, joining up public transport with on-demand shuttles using real-time Maps and a fair amount of state logic.
Liverpool Football Club
Mental Health Platform2020During the pandemic, helped build a mental health platform for young Liverpool FC players, using gamified content to help them handle the sudden weight of it all.

Life away from the screen
When I'm not staring at a stack trace, I'm usually somewhere down a Queensland track with the family, or in the shed making something that should exist and doesn't.
Off-Road Adventures
Getting out onto Queensland's remote tracks with my kids, teaching them to navigate and to notice the good spots most people drive straight past.
Family Camping
Weekends under the stars. Cooking on a fire, telling stories, and being somewhere with no signal for a bit.
3D Printing & Making
Making things that exist rather than just render. Custom automotive parts, replacements for things that broke, the occasional toy.
My Honest Philosophy
"Good software should feel effortless to use. The best of it puts a small amount of joy into something you do every day."
How I like to work
Nothing revolutionary. Understand the problem, build the thing, listen to the people using it, and fix what's wrong.
Listen first
Work out what people actually need before any code gets written.
Design with a point
Wireframes and prototypes aimed at a real problem, not a hypothetical one.
Build it quickly
Modern tooling, so it gets built fast and does not fall over.
Then keep going
Feedback from real users, then changes, then more feedback.
Have something that needs
building properly?
A shop that actually sells things, some awkward bit of logic nobody else wants to touch, or just a second opinion on what you already have. The workshop is open.
